The Department for Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Traumatology offers highly specialised surgical services, provided by well qualified and experienced staff, in orthopaedics and sports (accident) surgery. This set-up can be the treatment modality of choice only in acute cases—for example, in brand new injuries. Patients with non-acute conditions should check whether they have received sufficient non-operative pre-treatment.

At MARE we ask patients to be aware that for non-acute conditions, we are not able to offer consultations for an initial diagnosis as we spend the majority of our time in theatre. For an initial assessment, patients should consult their general practitioner, orthopaedic specialist, or A&E surgeon of their choice.

For accidents in the workplace or schools, Dr Pries and Rainer Gustmann as his deputy have set up a separate accident outpatient department in the centre.

Patients whose own doctor has already provided a definitive diagnosis that necessitates surgical treatment can contact us directly for a consultation, under the following telephone number 0049 (0431-6674-111).
